Interestingly, the original showrunner, Eric Kripke, had initially planned for the series to end after five seasons. This is why he stepped down as showrunner when The CW wanted to continue the show. He was succeeded by Sara Gamble for Seasons 6-7, Jeremy Carver for Seasons 8-11, and Andrew Dabb for Seasons 12-15.
