Supernatural Season 16 Release Date Rumors: Is It Coming Out?

After airing its fifteenth season three years ago, the popular dark fantasy series Supernatural has left fans curious about the possibility of a sixteenth season. Unfortunately, there is currently no release date for Supernatural Season 16. The decision to end the show after fifteen seasons was made by the cast and crew, who wanted to conclude the series on a high note. Jensen Ackles, who plays Dean Winchester, revealed this during a panel at the 2019 VegasCon. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Mark Pedowitz, the producer of The CW, stated that they would have been open to continuing the show if the ratings remained strong and the cast and crew were interested. However, they did not want to risk running the beloved show into the ground and decided it was best to end it while it was still going strong. Interestingly, the original showrunner, Eric Kripke, had initially planned for the series to end after five seasons. This is why he stepped down as showrunner when The CW wanted to continue the show. He was succeeded by Sara Gamble for Seasons 6-7, Jeremy Carver for Seasons 8-11, and Andrew Dabb for Seasons 12-15. The talented ensemble cast of Supernatural includes Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins, Mark Sheppard, Jim Beaver, Ruth Connell, Samantha Smith, Kim Rhoades, and Emily Swallow, among others. While it is uncertain whether Supernatural Season 16 will air on The CW, fans can still hope for the possibility of future spin-offs or other related content.
