### NCIS Shocks Fans with Michael Weatherly’s Surprise Cameo in Heartfelt Ducky Tribute!
NCIS just aired a moving tribute episode for Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard, honoring the late David McCallum. To add to the emotional farewell, CBS shared behind-the-scenes images on Instagram featuring a surprise guest: Michael Weatherly.
In this special episode, the team says goodbye to Ducky, and as the episode concludes, Jess and the others give Jimmy a moment alone in the lab. Suddenly, Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo, played by Weatherly, strolls in. He gifts Jimmy a black bowtie, performs a spot-on Dr. Mallard impression, and reassures him that we leave behind not just stories but the people we touch.
Brian Dietzen, who co-wrote the tribute with EP Scott Williams, shared how “wonderful” it was to hear Weatherly’s “familiar voice” again. Dietzen explained, “DiNozzo wasn’t there just to honor the loss of Ducky; he was also showing up for his friend.”
The episode also featured at least three Easter eggs as nods to McCallum’s roles in “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” and “The Great Escape.” Did you catch them all?
