Supernatural and The Boys star Jensen Ackles has revealed he’s now working on two secret TV show projects, one already being “sold” with another currently in development.
Ackles confirmed the news during the 2024 JIB14 panel, which he attended with his fellow Supernatural co-stars Jared Padalecki, Rob Benedict and Richard Speight Jr.
The revelation came after Ackles was asked by a fan in the crowd of the event for an update on him and his wife Danneel’s production company, Chaos Machine Productions.
Their company, which produced the now-cancelled Supernatural spinoff The Winchesters, was previously under a first-look deal at Warner Bros. Television and has since moved to Amazon.
“Jensen, you and your wife [Danneel] have a production company now,” the fan began.
They continued: “Are you doing anything with that at the moment – are you looking for projects or are you working on something?”
Ackles quickly began to provide an update, however, he kept details surrounding his projects under wraps.
“We have just sold a show,” Ackles confirmed.
He also revealed that he and Danneel are “developing a book into a series that has just all been optioned” with “contracts” being “penned”.
“So, we’re now moving forward with that,” Ackles added.
As to which “book” they’re adapting, Ackles wouldn’t tell.
It should be noted that some fans of Ackles and Padalecki have longed to see the two adapt Larry McMurtry’s 1985 novel, Lonesome Dove, a story centred around two retired Texas Rangers.
Ackles then went on to spotlight how hard at work his wife is with Chaos Machine and its projects.
“So, yeah, [Danneel’s] busy,” he said.
“We have a team of people so [Danneel] and our executive and our production coordinator – and I just get brought in when it’s like ‘all right, let’s bring in Jensen’s opinion’ and it’s never needed.”
He added: “I’m about to start working this summer so she’ll be doing that and I’ll be doing [this] but it’s all interlinked.”
Fans will just have to wait and see what the two Ackles are cooking up at Chaos Machine Productions.
